What are some rarer songs from your favorite artists? I know, I know.in this internet age nothing is truly rare.
You can find anything online somewhere, but some things you have to know about to even look for. Take for instance the Tom Petty song. It was meant to be on the Wildflowers album but the record company rejected it and it was released as a B-side to You Don't Know How It Feels. It's still OOP and hasn't been re-released anywhere else that I could find. You wouldn't hear it today if it weren't for Youtube and such. So what are some other songs like that from your favorite artists that have slipped through the cracks for whatever reason? Excellent thread, I hope other gaffers will reply to it too.
A song I've been trying to buy for a long time is Stardust's Music Sounds better with you. It's not on Beatport, Turntable Labs, or even Itunes. It's weird because it's used to be played all the time, and it's pretty much a timeless classic title now; and it was made by one half of Daft Punk (!) I've just checked on wikipedia. Veronica Mars Torrent Fr Saison 12 on this page. It is referred to as the worldwide most sold track of the house music genre. Shortly after the release Bangalter was offered 3 million dollars to produce a full Stardust album, but Bangalter, Braxe and Diamond have not worked together since. So I assume it's probably some copyright related issue due to the samples used in the song; or since It seems that those guys have never worked together since, it's probably due to some internal dispute. I guess I'm going to have to hit ebay for a vinly and rip it myself! Another song that I would love to own is 'ROCK HARD', a b-side from the Beastie Boys that used a sample from AC/DC; it was lost it times due to the fact that the ac/cd sample was not cleared and the BB actually got into a verbal fight with AC/DC over the phone about the sample and the only copies are from a vinyl from 1985 or something The sound is incredibly epic and I'm tired of having to resort of youtube when I want to listen to it.

Funny how that works out, I guess Trent maintained that confrontational mindset way back when. One rarity I kind of like from his Pretty Hate Machine days is It's a lot different from the material that eventually ended up on the album, but it's easy to jam to and it's got a surprisingly light-hearted melody coming from Trent. Wouldn't mind hearing some stuff like this in the future from him.
The Big 'SHUT UP!' Trope as used in popular culture. When you don't have anything smarter to say. Basically, someone screams 'Shut up!' At another person (or. Do entire albums count, or just songs?
One of my picks would be the first solo album by Nobukazu Takemura, Child's View, which I've been in love with since it's release in 1994. To my knowledge, it's never been re-released, and overall seems difficult to obtain through any of the regular music sources.
